History and Description of PFF Program

The Help Group's Project SAFE is a Prenatal through Five focused child abuse and neglect prevention program, originally developed through First 5 LA's Partnerships for Families (PFF) Initiative. Beginning in January 2017, PFF programs have been contracted through LA County Department of Children and Family Services

The PFF programs were established to prevent child maltreatment by addressing gaps in the child welfare system. Voluntary prevention services are offered to pregnant/expectant parents and families with children 5 years or younger who exhibit significant risk factors. Services are designed to increase protective factors and promote healthy, strong families.

Each of Los Angeles County's Service Planning Areas (SPAs) are served by PFF, which collaborates with other organizations to improve outcomes at the agency, family, and community levels. Project SAFE services SPA 2, which contains the San Fernando and Santa Clarita Valleys.
